I have cooked for Japanese businessmen and the media elite of Hampstead, from private parties of City folk to homely family celebrations. I serve delicious dishes in an informal, comfortable and hopefully charming way. As your private chef I and my skilled team of in-house caterers will cook up a feast fit for the gods anywhere in London and beyond.

 

I’ve hosted a Christmas dinner for 25 people every year since 1979. Barney’s was the best we’ve ever had.

I cannot recommend Barney John highly enough and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him for any function. He suggested the most brilliant menu (by far the most appealing of any of the other chefs I made enquires with) and we had nothing to do except sit back and enjoy his amazing food. The starter of devilled crab and papaya salad looked stunning and reduced the guests to silence in their appreciation. It also helps that Barney has a lovely manner and is incredibly helpful and resourceful. If you are looking for a chef to create and prepare the most appetising meal, you cannot do better than Barney.

I have always been surrounded with great food.

Starting with my mother's wonderful cooking in Devon. Then followed, 15 years ago, by an inspirational time working for Rowley Leigh at Kensington Place.  

Having spent several years cooking in Paris and working on organic farms in Italy I have a love of classic French and Italian cuisine.  I share their enjoyment and enthusiasm for the very best ingredients treated in a simple way.
